Mixing Modern with Classic

We're always in awe of truly creative people--the type who can mix red and purcle and make it look amazing, or the type of people who see things that none of us do.

We have to admit we get stuck in a rut sometimes. For example, if we are in the mid century house we think all the furniture has to be mid-century, or if we're in the cottage all the furniture should be shabby chic, right?

But that kind of thinking can be limiting doesn't it?  That's why we think it's important to think outside the box, so to speak.  It opens up a lot more possibilities.

Here is an inspiring example of how to mix modern with classic.  See how all the furniture is ultra-modern, yet they are set in a very traditional setting?

Rustic Dining Chair

We travel as much as possible and look for inspirations whereever we go.  One of our favorite places in terms of designing style is in the South.  Remember the magazine Southern Accents?  Oh my do we miss that magazine!  It truly showcases southern styles very, very well.

One of the reasons we like southern tyles so much is that it is so UNpretentious and creative. Like, you can actually live there!  It doesn't have that self-awareness that say, New York and Miami or LA styles do.  Southern style is warm and cozy and comfortable...

Here is a feature in Gun & Garden Magazine that you might want to check out...

If you like the galvanized  steel dining chair shown, it can be found in the dining chair section of our site.
