Chandeliers...can you go wrong there?

Chandeliers might be one of the most understated design tools of today. Although they may go relatively unnoticed, I think it would be clear that the room would seem empty if the chandelier was taken away.

These rooms for example...all beautifully decorated, but without the chandeliers they might not have the same appeal. It is amazing what a little light and elegance can do to a room. Whether you are going for a sleek and modern look, or something more classic- we have hundreds of chandeliers for you to browse through.

Decorative Pillows

Decorative pillows can make all the difference in a room. It is amazing how boring a couch can look without them! Fortunately we offer tons of decorative pillows for you to choose from when you are looking for that extra something. Sometimes it isn't realistic for us to replace furniture, reupholster those chairs, or even re-do the drapery. Something easy? Pillows.

Now, it isn't always necessary to go for big bold colors and patterns. Sometimes the subtle graphic pillows are nice too. Our favorite vendors are Ryan Studio and Lacefield Designs. Their products are so high quality and fun, its no wonder they sell like crazy! Each one is hand made and put together and shipped to you ASAP. Needless to say, it is definitely worth the extra few dollars you might spend. You can't go wrong with any of these decorative pillows.

Can't find a pattern you like? Don't worry! We can make you pillows from any of our fabrics on Inside Fabric. The lead time is about four weeks and they come out beautifully. If you are interested, give us a call at 800-497-8042 and one of our associates will be happy to help!

Overall, my favorite part about decorative pillows is that they don't require much effort. Its hard to keep up with all the new design trends! For us lazy design lovers, throw a few colorful pillows on your couch and the room will be instantly brightened!

Coffee Table Accessories

This is our favorite room of the day.  It conjures an image of coziness and warmth, especially on a cold winter day like today.

We like the use of trays and books and different accessory items to accessorize a coffee table. Note the different height and contrasting textures used.  Also we like the use of the same color tone as the rest of the room.

And we don't know about you, but our coffee tables are always full of dental floss, remote controls (if you are anything like us, you probably have at least four!).  Instead of putting them on the table, we put them in a really cute decorative box.  It has a double advantage of hiding unsightly things and look adorable as a decorative item as well.

Truly, to make a coffee table looks great,  home accessory is everything.  It doesn't have to be expensive either.  You can find amazing stuff at garage sale, discount stores, consignment stores & such.  The best thing is once you get tired of them you can just switch them out so easily.

Here are some of our favorite things to put on our coffee table:
Faux White Orchid Flower arrangement
Our orchid looks so real you probably can't tell that it's faux.

Decorative Box for your coffee table
This is a perfect box to put things you don't want any one to see, such as dental floss, remote control and things...
White Pug Sculpture
Because next to the real ones, dog sculptures are just as adorable.

Designer Spotlight: Trina Turk

Trina Turk Fabric is by far one our favorite lines. Trina Turk is an amazing designer, partly because she knew at a fairly young age what she wanted to do when she grew up, followed her passions, and now she is extremely successful and has evolved what began as a women’s contemporary clothing line into a mini lifestyle brand. Trina studied apparel design at the University of Washington, leading her to work for various companies designing ready-to-wear women’s apparel.
Trina realized in 1995 that her resume wasn’t going to cut it if she wanted offers to design her own line of women’s clothing, so her next step was to launch her own company-selling everything from fabric to home accessories. And within the same year, her products were being sold in major department stores such as Barney’s New York and Saks Fifth Avenue. In 2009 her wholesale sales topped $40 million. Her successes lead to the opening of her own boutiques in major cities around the United States. Those boutiques and her online store are a huge success today.

Trina has drawn constant inspiration from the cocktail party and poolside lifestyle of the desert, which definitely lead to her line of indoor/outdoor fabrics for F Schumacher. Trina Turk Fabric for F Schumacher is filled to the brim with eye-popping colors and patterns that without a doubt will add excitement to any design. The fabric quality is to die for, not to mention how cute it is! Whether you use the fabric for upholstery, drapery, or outdoor cushions, it is destined to be a great accent. Her geometric fabrics are a best-seller and have definitely landed her a place on our list of favorite designers!
